Business Focus is pleased to welcome guest speaker Frances Hill, Deputy Agent for Greater London at the Bank of England, to talk with local businesses at an Executive Luncheon on Thursday, 16 August 2007 at the Bromley Court Hotel.

Frances will talk about the role of the Bank of England, how the Monetary Policy Committee sets the Bank Rate and the role of the Regional Agency network, followed by a summary of the latest inflation report.

The Agency for Greater London is part of a network of 12 regional offices whose role is to liaise with businesses in their area in order to provide a regular assessment of local economic conditions for use by both the Monetary Policy Committee and the Bank’s economists.

Prior to taking up her current appointment in January 2006, Frances had spent 6 years as a UK Equity Investment Manager for the Bank’s pension fund. Before joining the Bank, Frances spent 12 years working for a large city investment management institution in a variety of roles, including US and Far East equity fund management

Customer First - making a difference 18 July '07

Business Focus has been re-accredited with the quality standard, Customer First, following a successful re-assessment and found to be fully compliant in all 32 areas of the programme.

The standard addresses key areas such as: client service, satisfaction, delivery, communication, processes and procedures together with staff and adviser/consultant quality, competence, training and development.

When Customer First was initially introduced, Business Focus was the first business support agency in the whole of London to achieve the standard and has now successfully progressed through two re-assessments.

Leading the way in business development 12 July '07

In response to demand from local business, Business Focus has developed a programme of Round Table and Workshop breakfast meetings to help owners/directors with businesses of 11+ employees to understand the skills required to improve business performance.
